The Association
Founded in 1995, ELRA, the ELRA Language Resources Association, is a non-profit organisation whose main mission is to make Language Resources (LRs) for Human Language Technologies (HLT) available to the community at large.
To achieve this goal, ELRA carries out a wide variety of activities around LRs, including Identification & Distribution, Production & Validation, Technology Evaluation, Information Dissemination on HLT.
The membership scheme of the association now encompasses two (2) types of members:
- the Institutional Members (formerly called ELRA Members), including the ELRA Subscribers
- the Individual Members.
Any organisation, public or private, European or non-European, can join. However, full membership, with voting rights, is available only to organisations legally established in Europe.
The association counts an average of 50 institutional members worldwide, mainly from the HLT area, including leading companies and commercial organisations from the industry sector, and research laboratories, institutes, universities and other academic institutions, and 1028 individual members, from all over the world.
